The O.G. MovieMaker’s Club (Grades 5-8)

This semester we are getting together to make a short film in just FIVE days!!  Students will be cast and / or crew and are working on a script last semester's students brainstormed and we helped to write, "Traces".
 
Synopsis: 
When a group of middle school friends turns their detective club into a quest to uncover a classroom thief, they learn the true meaning of friendship, forgiveness, and belonging as secrets unravel and bonds are tested.
 
Characters: 
Lucy 
Confident, curious, and the natural leader of the group. Lucy is determined to uncover the mystery and is always thinking ahead. Her determination sometimes blinds her to the emotional nuances of others.
Ben 
Goofy, energetic, and the comic relief of the group. Ben has a knack for lightening tense moments but often gets distracted by his quirky interests, like his prized burrito erasers.
Ella
Quiet and observant, Ella is the emotional core of the group. Her ability to notice small details and her empathetic nature often guide the others when they lose focus.
Jamie 
Reserved but eager to fit in, Jamie hides a deep vulnerability. His struggle with being in foster care and his mistakes create the emotional heart of the story.
Ryan 
Boastful and slightly intimidating, Ryan initially appears as the prime suspect. Beneath his confident exterior, he is a loyal and misunderstood classmate who proves his worth to the group.
Extras:
Classmates (Various ages, 9-13): Background roles as students in the classroom and playground scenes.
 
That’s right--it’s time to get real and make a MOVIE!

Note that participants will need to be able to commit to ALL FIVE film dates so that we can make sure we finish our movie before the deadline. This film will premiere at the Film Prize Junior Film Festival in April--stay tuned for more details! 
 
Club Fee: $150 per student.
Must have at least 8 students to hold.
